too late to realize

too late to realize poem

I glimpse you on a white long gown

Walking towards the altar unhurriedly

A bunch of flowers you grasp with your hands

As you lead your way to the man of your destiny

— o —

All eyes are next to us

All ears lent with trust

I do, you said

I do, I responded

— o —

No one opposed

To this marriage nearly closed

Till I heard

A voice that ground my nerves

— o —

It’s not a bird, not a plane

It’s mom, exclaiming, it’s already ten

Too late for school, too late to rise

Trapped in a beautiful nightmare, too late to realize
